Ripple targets $13T payments market, integrates XRP and RLUSD into TradFi
Garlinghouse points to a $13T payments gap. He says XRP and stablecoins can plug in as rails move on-chain.
In a FOX Business interview, the Ripple CEO said GTreasury, acquired by Ripple, processed $13 trillion in payments. None used stablecoins or crypto. He called this an opening to integrate crypto into payment flows.
He framed stablecoins as crypto’s “ChatGPT moment,” and said blockchain already speeds cross‑border payments, per the same interview.
Garlinghouse said Ripple launched RLUSD after seeing its own payment operations account for up to 20% of USDC flows. He added they chose to build their own product, per this report.
Analyst ChartNerd called this a big opening for XRP, noting the SEC has said the asset is not a security, suggesting institutions could adopt it for payments.
On X, Garlinghouse wrote that crypto’s image has shifted to “rewiring the financial system.” He said large companies now ask if they are using stablecoins and assets like XRP, and highlighted deals aimed at bridging TradFi and crypto, including Hidden Road and GTreasury, via his post and coverage of the Hidden Road acquisition. He reiterated that XRP is Ripple’s “North Star,” per this interview.
