Ripple Devs Introduces Roadmap for Institutional DeFi on XRP Ledger
Ripple Devs, a division of Ripple Labs Inc, has unveiled a roadmap aimed at enhancing institutional Decentralized Finance (DeFi) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This initiative is set to broaden XRPL’s applications in the financial sector.
XRP Ledger Innovations
- The roadmap outlines features and use cases for 2025, as highlighted by David "JoelKatz" Schwartz.
- Innovations such as the Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) aim to improve price transparency and liquidity efficiency.
- The Automated Market Maker (AMM) enhances liquidity automation between tokenized assets and stablecoins.
- Recent updates include a new AMM feature for holders of the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin.
Integration with Ondo Finance
- XRPL has formed partnerships to cater to the demand for tokenized solutions, particularly Real-world Assets (RWAs).
- Ondo Finance collaborated with XRPL to launch tokenized US Treasuries for institutional investors, known as Ondo Short-Term US Government Treasuries (OUSG).
- This offering is backed by the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund.
Future Developments for XRPL
- Focus will be on improving regulatory compliance and expanding institutional lending options.
- Features like digital credentials based on DID and Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) are in development.
- XLS-65d specifications will enable secure issuance of tokenized loans, reducing reliance on traditional intermediaries.
- XLS-66d specifications will provide benefits such as on-ledger loans and off-chain underwriting.
