Sui processes $65B stablecoin transfers in five days after gasless update
Sui processed about $65B in stablecoin transfers in five days after enabling gasless stablecoin moves. The change removes the need to hold SUI to pay fees on supported stablecoins, per NewsBTC and Sui.
Mysten Labs turned on gasless transfers in May. The reported $65B window followed June 10.
Supported assets include USDC, USDsui, suiUSDe, USDY, FDUSD, AUSD, and USDB. Users and apps can send these without sourcing SUI for gas. It targets wallets, payments, and low-margin settlement.
Zero-fee transfers lift velocity. They also attract bots, arbitrage loops, and repeated hops. The headline can overstate retail adoption.
The investable angle is liquidity stickiness. Can Sui convert throughput into balances, deeper pools, and app usage.
What to watch next:
- Stablecoin balances on Sui
- App-level activity and settlement demand
- Bridge flows in and out
- Liquidity depth on Sui DeFi
If transfer volume stays high while balances and usage rise, the gasless move reads as adoption. If flows cluster among the same actors, it looks like throughput, not durable demand. Sources: Sui, NewsBTC.
