Bitcoin breaks $74,000, funding turns negative, whales signal market bottom
Bitcoin breaks $74k as funding flips negative; whales hit 6‑year high
Bitcoin (BTC) briefly cleared $74,000. Metrics point to a possible bottom and rebound.
Analyst Ali Martinez said funding rates turned negative, a setup that has preceded “relief rallies” over the past three years. He called current sentiment “peak fear,” a condition that often aligns with a local bottom on X.
- Dec 2022: BTC rose from $17,800 to $24,800 (+39%) source
- Mar 2023: from $20,000 to $30,700 (+53%) source
Based on similar resets, Martinez notes an average ~46% rebound, implying potential upside toward ~$108,000 if the pattern repeats analysis.
CryptoQuant flagged another shift. The exchange whale ratio for BTC is at a six‑year high, while the retail ratio is at a six‑year low. Historically, a high whale ratio often coincides with short‑term bottoms and the start of uptrends CryptoQuant Quicktake.
Another level to watch: an unfilled CME gap between $80,000 and $84,000. Jesus Martinez noted that nine of ten CME gaps since August 2025 have closed; a quick fill to $84,000 would add ~13% from current levels on X.
Spot check: BTC trades near $74,100, up ~4% in 24 hours and ~8% in seven days.
