**Alchemy launches AgentCard for AI-driven payments via Visa**

AgentCard, backed by Alchemy, gives autonomous AI agents virtual Visa payment credentials. Agents can now make online purchases, while users define spending limits and track transactions in real time.

The tool bridges programmable crypto-style payments and existing card networks. AI agents increasingly handle booking, subscriptions and digital resource purchases — but secure checkout remains a gap. AgentCard plugs into merchant systems already familiar with card payments instead of introducing entirely new crypto flows.

Core features focus on control:
- User-defined spending caps.
- Real-time monitoring.
- Restricted merchant categories.

These safeguards are key, as autonomous payments demand trust without exposing full financial accounts.

The launch places Alchemy in the emerging race to shape "agentic commerce." Visa, Mastercard and crypto developers are also moving to enable machine-to-machine transactions across APIs, content and services.

If AI agents become regular market participants, they’ll need wallet-based identity, programmable rules and accepted payment rails. AgentCard is one of the first bundled solutions aiming to meet both developer and merchant requirements.
