24X files SEC proposal to enable tokenized Russell 1000 trading
**24X Exchange Seeks SEC Rule Change for Tokenized Stock Trading**
24X National Exchange has filed a proposed rule change with the SEC to enable tokenized settlement of select US equities and ETFs through a Depository Trust Company pilot.
The plan covers Russell 1000 stocks and major ETFs. Both tokenized and traditional versions would trade on the same order book to avoid liquidity splits. Execution priority stays unchanged.
Orders opting for tokenized settlement would carry a digital flag and include wallet details. Settlement would still run through DTC’s regulated framework, testing blockchain rails without replacing existing clearing systems.
For investors, this represents a shift of tokenization from theory toward operational integration with traditional market infrastructure. The proposal targets regulated securities — not new crypto assets — and could define how US markets handle blockchain-based representations of mainstream financial products.
Regulators are still reviewing SR-24X-2026-20. There is no approval yet, but the filing signals increasing exchange interest in embedding tokenized settlement into existing equity markets.
