El Salvador Buys Additional 12 Bitcoin Amid IMF Agreement

El Salvador has continued its Bitcoin strategy by purchasing 12 BTC on February 4, taking advantage of a declining market.

Details of the Purchase

First transaction: 11 BTC for over $1.1 million, averaging $101,816 per coin.
Second transaction: 1 BTC bought at $99,114.
Total holdings now stand at 6,068 BTC, valued at over half a billion dollars.

IMF Agreement Context

In January, El Salvador secured a $1.4 billion financing deal with the IMF.
The agreement requires the government to reduce Bitcoin-related activities.
Bitcoin acceptance will be voluntary for businesses; involvement with the Chivo wallet must be minimized.

Commitment to Bitcoin Investments

Despite the IMF deal, El Salvador continues to acquire Bitcoin.
Recent purchases include $1 million worth of Bitcoin following the IMF agreement.
Future investments in BTC may increase by 2025 according to government officials.

El Salvador's Bitcoin Office confirmed the country acquired 21 BTC in the past week and 60 BTC in the last month. The current price of Bitcoin is around $97,878 after dropping from an intraday high of over $100,500.
