Gate and Visa launch crypto card for spending in 40+ countries
Gate announced a collaboration with Visa to launch a crypto-linked card that converts users’ digital assets to fiat at the point of sale: online and in-store wherever Visa is accepted. The rollout targets 40+ markets and integrates directly with users’ Gate accounts.
Product Scope and Functionality
Payments made with the Gate-issued Visa card draw from users’ Gate-held digital assets, which are automatically converted to local fiat currency at checkout. Use cases: shopping, dining, travel, and everyday expenses. Users can apply for and manage the card in the Gate app and access related payment services. Supported markets, eligibility, assets, and service availability are listed on the product page.
Network Reach and Adoption Data
Visa’s acceptance network spans 175 million+ merchant locations across 200+ countries and territories. Gate connects its digital asset platform with Visa’s infrastructure to broaden commercial scenarios for crypto-funded payments. Visa reports 160+ stablecoin-linked card programs live globally, with payment volume up nearly 200% year over year.
Gate’s Platform Capabilities
Founded in 2013, Gate reports 61 million+ users, supports trading of 5,300+ crypto assets and 12,800+ stock assets, and offers access to metals, stocks, indices, forex, and commodities. The platform implemented 100% Proof of Reserves and maintains a diversified product ecosystem.
Gate Money Integration
Gate launched Gate Money, a globally integrated financial services module inside the Gate app. It brings digital assets, fiat, stocks, ETFs, gold, bank accounts, and payments into one interface. Eligible users can apply online for a global bank account in their name and manage receipts, transfers, conversions, and payments in one place. The crypto-linked Visa card connects Gate accounts to global payment scenarios, extending Gate Money to everyday spending. Gate App v8.39.0 enables Gate Money.
