ISM Manufacturing PMI jumps to 55.6, highest since May 2022

The US manufacturing recovery is accelerating: ISM Manufacturing PMI rose 2.3 points in July to 55.6, the highest since May 2022, marking a seventh consecutive month of expansion. Since December 2025, the index has increased 7.7 points, the largest rise since the 2020 pandemic rebound. New orders increased 0.7 points to 56.7, the third-highest since February 2022, indicating continued strength. The employment index jumped 3.1 points to 52.8, the highest since August 2022 and the first monthly expansion since January 2025. Prices paid fell 1.9 points to 71.1, the lowest since February, registering a third straight monthly decline totaling 13.5 points. Manufacturing activity is gaining momentum.
