Justin Sun lawsuit sends WLFI to new all-time low
WLFI hits new low after Justin Sun lawsuit against Trump-linked project
World Liberty Financial’s WLFI fell to a new all-time low as Justin Sun sued the project, alleging his tokens were frozen and governance rights revoked. The token slid ~3% in 24h to $0.0761 Thursday morning, per CoinGecko data, after the filing reported by Bloomberg.
The coin broke below its $0.0887–$0.1355 range set since early February in early April. It is down 16.5% week-on-week and 26% month-on-month, amid ongoing controversies and liquidation fears flagged by NewsBTC.
- Sun’s complaint alleges WLFI used a smart-contract blacklist to freeze his holdings, removed his voting rights, and threatened to burn his tokens without cause, per Bloomberg.
- He says he invested $45 million for 3 billion WLFI in 2024–2025 and received 1 billion advisory tokens, and claims “World Liberty is on the verge of collapse,” questioning reserves for the USD1 stablecoin, per Bloomberg.
- Sun adds relations soured mid-2025 after he declined further support for USD1, per Bloomberg.
- He says WLFI privately blamed him for a 40% launch-day crash; his address was blacklisted on Sept 4, 2025, per NewsBTC.
WLFI now trades over 75% below its $0.33 ATH set on Sept 1, 2025, per CoinGecko.
Sun said on X he tried to settle the dispute privately but was left “no choice but to turn to the courts,” claiming some team members act “against President Trump’s values,” per his post.
WLFI co-founders Eric Trump and Zack Witkoff rejected the claims. Eric Trump mocked Sun’s suit on X, saying the only thing “more ridiculous than this lawsuit is spending $6 million on a banana duct-taped to a wall,” referencing Sun’s 2024 art purchase, per his post. Users noted Eric praised Sun in June 2025, calling him “a great friend” and “the biggest fan of Tron,” per his post.
Witkoff called the suit a “desperate attempt to deflect attention,” saying the claims are “entirely meritless” and that WLFI will seek dismissal, per NewsBTC.
