Polish PM links Zondacrypto to Russian mafia, urges crypto veto override

Poland’s PM Tusk accused Zondacrypto of “Russian money” influence and tied it to blocked crypto rules. Parliament prepared a vote to override Karol Nawrocki’s veto.

Tusk spoke in Sejm before the vote. He said repeated vetoes benefited one firm, Zondacrypto. He linked its funding to the “Bratva” and Russian secret services, and to support for conservative events and parties AP reported.

He named Law and Justice and Confederation as beneficiaries. He said Zondacrypto helped sponsor CPAC Poland in March 2025, five days before a tight presidential vote according to AP.

The clash centers on two vetoed government attempts to regulate crypto in the last six months. Nawrocki rejected both bills per AP.

The government says the measures align Poland with EU digital asset rules AP noted.

The president’s office said Nawrocki backs regulation but opposes the model proposed. Confederation leader Sławomir Mentzen said the bill would have “destroyed the Polish cryptocurrency market,” AP reported.

Zondacrypto didn’t answer AP’s questions. The firm told Polish media it is cooperating with authorities, AP wrote here.

The override vote will decide whether the government can push the rules through despite the vetoes AP said.
