Polish state energy company loses $230m buying oil with USDT

A Financial Times article today reports that a Polish state-owned energy company tried to buy crude oil in 2024 using USDT to skirt sanctions on Venezuela, only to be scammed out of $230 million.

They even handed over a “USB stick with USDT,” and then the broker disappeared… lol
