Senators and White House strike tentative stablecoin deal; CLARITY Act markup eyed for mid‑ to late‑April

Lawmakers moved the CLARITY Act forward. A tentative stablecoin yield deal cleared a key roadblock.

Politico reported that senators reached an agreement in principle with the White House on stablecoin yields. The language aims to bridge a split between banks and crypto firms.

Senators Thom Tillis and Angela Alsobrooks led the talks. Alsobrooks said, “We’ve come a long way… protect innovation, but also… prevent widespread deposit flight” (Politico).

Tillis called it progress, but not final. “We’re in a good place,” he said, noting he will review details with industry before moving ahead (Politico).

Market watcher MartyParty said Senator Cynthia Lummis signaled a Senate Banking markup in the second half of April. Weeks starting April 13 or April 20 are in play, after the Easter recess (X).

A markup would open the draft to edits and political moves. It’s a key step before a floor vote. Final dates are still unconfirmed (X).
