BEARISH 📉 : UFC announcer error sparks Polymarket exploit, invites congressional scrutiny over sports markets

UFC miscall hands one Polymarket trader a 100x shot. Over $67k won in seconds.

During Tyrell Fortune vs. Marcin Tybura, Bruce Buffer first named Tybura the winner, then corrected it to Fortune moments later. The clip shows odds snapping and then rebounding as the call flipped on X and on the live market on Polymarket.

A trader known as LlamaEnjoyer placed $676 on Fortune during the miscall and cashed out over $67k once the result was corrected. He later shared details from his handle Verrissimus.

Regulatory risk stays in focus. Polymarket’s market on a law banning sports prediction markets in 2026 is trading at 14% here. A bipartisan bill filed Mar 23 targets sports contracts on platforms like Polymarket; “states can maintain their authority over these markets,” said Sen. John Curtis on X.

Polymarket’s push into mainstream continues. A new D.C. bar is displaying live UFC bets alongside geopolitics markets to reframe the product as “financial infrastructure” per KUNC. Lawmaker attention to prediction market integrity has been building for months via Coinspeaker.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin ticked +1% overnight, back above $67,000. Reported daily volume topped $28.2B on TradingView.
