bdautomated publishes verified AI agent stats showing use per department under 10%

min

bdautomated publishes a source-checked reference of AI agent adoption statistics across businesses, tracing 75 figures to original documents and clarifying what each measures. The dataset is free in CSV and JSON under CC BY 4.0.

Key findings

Adoption rates diverge due to differing definitions: intent, experimentation, implementation, and scaled use are counted separately.

  • McKinsey Global Survey 2025: 62 percent of organizations at least experimenting with AI agents, 23 percent scaled an agent somewhere in the company, no more than 10 percent scaled in any single function.
  • PwC U.S. executives, April 2025: 79 percent reported agents already being adopted in their companies, counting intent or any adoption.
  • Capgemini: after verifying what respondents meant by “agent,” 14 percent had implemented one.
  • U.S. Census Bureau, May 2026: 19.8 percent of U.S. businesses of all sizes using AI in any business function.

Clarifications on frequently cited figures

  • MIT Project NANDA: “95 percent of organizations are getting zero return” assessed profit-and-loss impact within roughly six months of a pilot. Sources: 52 interviews, 153 conference survey responses, 300 public deployments. Authors described the findings as preliminary. The figure does not state that 95 percent of AI projects fail.
  • Gartner forecast, June 2025: over 40 percent of agentic AI projects will be canceled by end of 2027. This is a prediction; cancellations have not been counted.

Methodology

  • Each statistic verified in its original source with exact location and verbatim quote.
  • Plain-language description of what is measured: who was asked, sample size, timing.
  • Conflicts shown across sources without averaging.
  • Market-size forecasts excluded because underlying reports are paid and cannot be checked.
