**Toss Bank Signs MoU with Solana Foundation to Test Blockchain Remittances**

Toss Bank has entered a strategic agreement with the Solana Foundation to trial blockchain-based cross-border payments and stablecoin settlement.

The MoU, signed June 19 in Seoul, outlines a phased proof-of-concept. The goal — assess SOL’s capacity for handling overseas remittances, settlement speed, compliance, and stablecoin integration.

This is not a live consumer product. Toss Bank said tests will run in a controlled environment.

For Solana, it’s another institutional payments use case. Remittances fit Solana’s long-term push beyond being a “high-speed chain” into consumer finance and tokenised settlement.

South Korea’s crypto market is active, but banks remain cautious. A proof-of-concept allows exploration without commercial launch risk.

Traditional finance now views stablecoins as potential settlement infrastructure, not just trading tools. Regulation, bank cooperation, and demand will decide future scale.

The timing coincides with South Korea’s debate on won-backed stablecoins and wider crypto market rules. Other local banks may follow if the tests show efficiency gains.
