Circle starts cutting CCTP V1 limits; Noble USDC faces 2027 pause
Circle’s legacy CCTP burn limits begin reducing on October 31, leading to a general V1 pause on December 1. Noble follows a separate path: Noble USDC minting stopped on October 13, and Noble’s USDC contract and remaining CCTP routes are scheduled to pause on January 12, 2027. V2 uses different contracts and APIs and is not backward compatible with V1. Route availability can narrow before these pause dates, so holders and integrators must track specific routes, not just token tickers.
Deadlines: general legacy vs. Noble
Circle’s CCTP V1 deprecation notice: burn limits begin reducing on October 31, legacy contracts pause on December 1. V2 operates on separate contracts and APIs and does not support V1 flows.
Circle’s Noble-specific notice: Noble USDC minting stopped on October 13. Noble’s USDC contract and remaining CCTP routes pause on January 12, 2027. Noble will not receive CCTP V2 support.
Routes do not necessarily hit zero limit on October 31. After December 1, Noble exits may only reach destinations that still support V1. January 12, 2027 does not guarantee all routes remain open until that date.
Bridge migration: protocol changes, not just UI
V2 requires different contracts and APIs: applications must update integration logic, error handling, and assumptions about responses. In-flight transfers span source-chain action, attestation, and destination completion: systems must reconcile each step to avoid transfers that start but cannot complete.
Token identity and chain support
USDC on one chain is distinct from assets with the same ticker on others: receiving services must support the specific network and token form. During sunsets, a venue may support a destination chain while rejecting deposits from an older route, or require conversion with separate terms and liquidity.
The Cosmos community-pool proposal records an intended move from Noble-issued to Injective-issued USDC: publication does not confirm completion.
Planning: do not anchor on the pause date
Circle plans to snapshot remaining Noble balances on January 12, 2027 and begin manual redemptions the next day, subject to eligibility and compliance. This is a fallback distinct from automated transfers.
Preparation: identify supported routes, terms, and verification steps for completion. Sending to an unintended address or via an unsupported network creates reconciliation risks that the ticker symbol does not reveal.
Key checks now: confirm live route status and verify transfer completion, while keeping the December 1 legacy pause and Noble’s January 12, 2027 pause clearly distinct. Blockchain uptime and issuer support follow separate lifecycles.
