Coinbase premium gap stays positive 25 days, signals US institutional demand

Coinbase BTC premium stayed positive for 25 straight days. Longest run since October 2025.

Analyst Maartunn reported a persistent positive Coinbase Premium Gap, based on a 30-hour moving average. He shared the chart and streak data on X here.

The Coinbase Premium Gap tracks the price difference of Bitcoin on Coinbase (USD pair) versus Binance (USDT pair). A reading above zero means a higher price on Coinbase, pointing to stronger bid there. NewsBTC explains the metric here.

The 30-hour average turned deeply negative during the drop from the January high, suggesting Coinbase selling pressure drove part of that decline source.

Since late February, the metric flipped positive and kept climbing. The 25-day positive streak is the longest since October 2025, per Maartunn’s post source.

This matters because Coinbase channels US institutional flow. Since early 2024, the gap has often moved with spot price. US spot ETFs also use Coinbase as custodian, tying institutional flows to the venue institutional flows ETF custody.
