Korea promises October crypto tax guidelines for staking, airdrops
Reading the original article, it does say:
With just five months left until the tax takes effect, tax authorities appear to be feeling the pressure amid ongoing criticism from experts that criteria for calculating acquisition cost for complex transactions beyond ordinary trading on virtual asset exchanges—such as hard forks, staking, airdrops, and token swaps—remain unclear.
A National Tax Service official, speaking about the notice to be released in guideline form this October, said, “We’re checking whether any newly emerged transaction types exist,” and signaled that “detailed tax criteria by acquisition type, such as staking and airdrops, may be included.”
At least it seems they’ve identified what the issues are.
Since they even signed a memorandum, I hope they’ll come back with results that everyone can agree on.
