min

Tether purchased 14 tonnes of gold in Q2 2026, increasing total holdings to a record 146 tonnes valued at approximately $18.8 billion. The company acquired 53 tonnes between Q3 2025 and Q1 2026. Since Q1 2025, Tether’s gold holdings more than doubled and the market value nearly tripled.

Tether is the largest known private holder of gold outside central banks and governments. In H1 2026, only four central banks purchased more gold than Tether: Poland, Uzbekistan, China, and Kazakhstan. Tether is now competing with central banks for gold after the recent correction.
