Blockstream CEO Adam Back denies NYT report he is Satoshi
Adam Back denies he is Satoshi Nakamoto after a New York Times probe named him the top suspect.
The Blockstream CEO said “I’m not Satoshi” and posted his rebuttal on X. He added his interest in ecash and crypto spans decades before Bitcoin (BTC) here.
The NYT investigation by John Carreyrou cited writing parallels, British spellings, and overlapping cryptography work to single him out as Satoshi in this report.
Back rejected that case. He argued his prolific posts on ecash lists skew searches toward him and create “confirmation bias” in retrospectives in his thread.
He said the language overlap is coincidence or shared jargon among cryptographers. He added he does not know who Satoshi is and that the mystery helps Bitcoin be seen as a “mathematically scarce digital commodity” according to his post.
