Justin Sun Prize launches 50-problem MathDB pilot with $1 million prizes
Geneva, Switzerland — October 26, 2026 — The Office of Justin Sun announced a pilot program for the Justin Sun Prize in collaboration with MathDB, a mathematical research platform led by Caltech Professor Tony Yue Yu.
The Justin Sun Prize aims to function as a decentralized, formalized and machine-driven award system for scientific advances in the AI era. Problem-level awards can reach $1 million, subject to eligibility and official terms.
Collaboration Scope and Process
MathDB will manage submissions, verify Lean formalizations and review expository materials. The Justin Sun Prize will evaluate eligibility, attribution, priority and applicable award terms. The pilot covers 50 problems across four award tiers. The highest tier includes: P vs NP, the Riemann Hypothesis, Yang–Mills Existence and Mass Gap, the Hodge Conjecture, Global Langlands functoriality, and the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture. The full list and terms will be available via MathDB and the Justin Sun Prize.
Rationale and Principles
Justin Sun stated that AI increases the speed of mathematical exploration and that the framework aims to combine human insight with machine-verifiable rigor. Tony Yue Yu emphasized that solving fundamental problems yields tools and connections that affect multiple disciplines. Both parties target decentralized, rigorous and verifiable approaches to accelerate discovery.
Awards Structure and Verification
Awards are subject to eligibility checks, AML and sanctions compliance, and official rules: https://www.hejustinsun.com/prize. The pilot’s reward allocation: 50% for the mathematical solution, 30% for Lean formalization, 20% for qualifying exposition.
About MathDB
MathDB is a community database of definitions, theorems, conjectures and open problems. It integrates Lean formalization and automated proof verification with explanations and research materials. Professor Tony Yue Yu and his team will lead the scientific aspects of the pilot. More details: https://mathdb.com/ and https://www.hejustinsun.com/prize.
About the Office of Justin Sun
