Justin Sun Prize and MathDB launch 50-problem pilot with $1m awards

Geneva, Switzerland — October 26, 2026 — The Office of Justin Sun announced a pilot program for the Justin Sun Prize with MathDB, a mathematical research platform led by Caltech Professor Tony Yue Yu.

The Justin Sun Prize aims to function as a decentralized, formalized, machine-driven award system for scientific research in the AI era. Problem-level awards can reach $1 million, subject to eligibility and program rules.

Collaboration and Process

MathDB will manage submissions, verify Lean formalizations and review expository materials. The Justin Sun Prize will assess eligibility, attribution, priority and applicable award terms. The pilot covers 50 problems across four award tiers. Top-tier problems include P versus NP, the Riemann Hypothesis, Yang–Mills Existence and Mass Gap, the Hodge Conjecture, Global Langlands functoriality and the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture. The full list and rules will be available via MathDB and the Justin Sun Prize.

Program Structure and Criteria

Awards are subject to eligibility verification, AML and sanctions compliance, and official rules posted at https://www.hejustinsun.com/prize. The MathDB pilot allocates rewards by contribution type: 50% for the mathematical solution, 30% for Lean formalization and 20% for qualifying exposition.

MathDB Platform

MathDB is a community database of definitions, theorems, conjectures and open problems. It integrates Lean formalization and automated proof verification alongside mathematical explanations and research materials. Professor Tony Yue Yu and his team will lead the scientific aspects of the pilot.

Statements

Justin Sun said the initiative integrates human insight with machine-verifiable rigor to accelerate discovery without compromising standards. Tony Yue Yu emphasized that solving fundamental problems yields tools and connections across disciplines, and that decentralized, rigorous and verifiable approaches can accelerate scientific progress.

Access to Details

Participating problems, submission requirements and review procedures will be published on MathDB and the Justin Sun Prize.

About the Office of Justin Sun

The Office supports Justin Sun’s initiatives across technology, blockchain, AI, scientific research, investment, art and space exploration.
