MIKA token crashes 99% after Mika posts dev wallet key

4 min

Crypto influencer Mika (@mikadontlouz) posted what traders identified as her token’s developer wallet private key instead of the contract address during the launch of the Free Mika (MIKA) token. The token crashed about 99% in a single sale minutes later. She relaunched within 30 minutes, where one wallet held about half the supply. The relaunch is down about 84% from its peak. The incident revived scrutiny of celebrity tokens, which often follow a pattern of thin liquidity, concentrated holdings, and rapid drawdowns.

What Happened With MIKA

  • 1:36 p.m.: Free Mika (MIKA) launches on pump.fun and reaches a $1.6 million market cap in about three minutes.
  • 1:40 p.m.: Mika posts “free yourselves knights / its time to eat. no cabal.” followed by an 87-character string. A Solana contract address is 44 characters. Traders flagged it as the dev wallet’s private key.
  • Minutes later: Odaily traces the creator address sending about 500.44 million MIKA, roughly half the initial supply, to another wallet, which sells about 500.83 million on PumpSwap seven seconds later. Prices print about 99% lower on subsequent trades. By 1:53 p.m., market cap: $85,500.
  • 2:08 p.m.: A second Free Mika token launches. Mika posts the correct contract address a minute later. On GeckoTerminal it peaks near a $1.5 million market cap within minutes and drops below $300,000 within the hour.

The relaunch sits near a $240,000 market cap, with about $41,700 liquidity and $1.65 million in 24-hour volume. DexScreener lists multiple copycats: Free Mika King, Jail Mika, Mute Mika.

Mistake or Setup

  • Sympathy account: a widely shared post claimed Mika was “drained for 40k” and was in tears on an X Spaces.
  • Skeptic account: Solana trader fabiano.sol said the loss was staged. His screenshot showed the wallet as a System Program account storing 80 bytes, consistent with a durable nonce account that prevents fund movement even if a key leaks. He noted the relaunch’s dev holding about 50% of supply and flagged the holder distribution as risky.

On-chain transfers do not reveal whether the seller was an outsider who copied the key or an existing large holder. A rushed launch and clipboard error could produce a similar chain of events. The combination of a public key leak, a disputed $40,000 loss, and a relaunch with concentrated holdings increased skepticism.

Are Celebrity Tokens Back

Celebrity tokens persist but frequently experience rapid declines. Recent examples:

  • Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP (September 9, Base): spiked to $190.81 on about $48,000 liquidity, fell to $3.70 within an hour. Bubblemaps reported about 80% of traders underwater.
  • TRUMP (January 2025): peaked at $73.43; trades near $1.67.
  • MELANIA (January 2025): peaked at $13.05; now about $0.08.
  • LIBRA (February 2025): Argentina’s President Milei post sent market cap past $4 billion; price fell more than 90% within hours. Post deleted.
  • YZY (August 2025): peaked at $2.95; trades near $0.29.
  • HAWK (December 2024): fell more than 90% within hours.
  • MOTHER (May 2024): down about 99.9% from peak.

Do Markets Need Celebrity Tokens

These tokens generally lack product, cash flow, and a roadmap beyond launch. Demand centers on name recognition, while supply and liquidity conditions often enable large early holders to exit quickly. Analytics tools exposed issues in the MIKA relaunch within an hour: a 50% holder concentration and suspected nonce setup. Despite this, the second token still recorded $1.65 million in daily volume.

Conclusion: MIKA’s dual crashes, disputed key leak, and concentrated relaunch reinforce the prevailing pattern of celebrity token launches: rapid hype, thin liquidity, insider concentration, and sharp drawdowns.
