BEARISH 📉 : US lawmaker labels Bitcoin a geopolitical weapon used by multiple adversaries

US defense officials and a House Republican put Bitcoin (BTC) into national security talks. They say adversaries use it across multiple fronts.

Representative Lance Gooden calls Bitcoin a “geopolitical weapon.” He cites classified Pentagon work tied to countering “China’s digital authoritarianism,” referencing remarks attributed to Pete Hegseth by TFTC reporting on X.

Admiral Samuel Paparo told the Senate Bitcoin has “incredible potential” for cybersecurity and strategy. “We have a node on the Bitcoin network right now,” he said, per Bitcoinist reporting.

Gooden outlines threat vectors. He says Iran demands Bitcoin for Strait of Hormuz transits, citing Bitcoinist. He adds North Korea-linked hackers use Bitcoin in ransomware, pointing to Bitcoinist.
