Bitdeer Acquires 101 MW Gas Power Plant in Alberta for Bitcoin Mining

Bitdeer, a Bitcoin mining company, acquired a 101-MW gas-fired power plant near Fox Creek, Alberta for a vertically integrated BTC mining operation.

The site marks Bitdeer's first project in Canada and follows collaboration with government agencies and the Canadian Blockchain Consortium.
Bitdeer plans to build a 99 MW datacenter capable of scaling up to 1 GW.
Energy production costs are estimated between $20 and $25 per MW/h.
The facility has a 99 MW interconnect license to the local power grid, allowing Bitdeer to sell power back during high demand.
Site preparation and infrastructure development are set to begin in Q2 2025, with full operations expected by Q4 2026.
