Project Eleven adds Quantus to integrate post-quantum Strongpoint by 2027
Project Eleven and Quantus will integrate the Quantus Network into Strongpoint, Project Eleven’s institutional custody platform built for post-quantum blockchain assets. Quantus joins as a development partner. Targeted support: first quarter of 2027.
Objective
Strongpoint addresses institutional custody during a transition to post-quantum cryptography. Quantum-resistant blockchains will not standardize on one signature scheme or timeline. Institutions need stable governance and security controls while underlying cryptographic primitives change by network.
Architecture
Strongpoint separates institutional controls from cryptographic implementation:
- Common control layer: authentication, transaction approval policies, key management, governance, audit trails
- Network-specific layer: pluggable cryptographic schemes aligned to each blockchain’s requirements
Project Eleven refers to this as crypto-agility.
Partnership Scope
- Quantus contributes a post-quantum–oriented network environment to shape Strongpoint’s architecture and workflows.
- Follows Strongpoint’s launch with the Zcash Foundation as an initial development partner.
- Platform is tested against heterogeneous network requirements rather than optimized for a single chain.
Risk Context
- Quantum computing is a long-term risk with no known machine able to extract private keys at scale today.
- Main concern: future quantum capability arriving while significant digital asset value remains protected by vulnerable cryptography.
- Retail migration may involve moving funds to new address types. Institutional migration is more complex: policies, hardware, compliance, signer setups, approvals and audit dependencies tied to current key architectures.
- Custody providers are treating quantum readiness as an operational planning problem before urgency arises.
Timeline and Status
- Quantus–Strongpoint integration: planned, not live.
- No immediate quantum trigger for migration.
- Work proceeds to avoid rebuilding custody infrastructure under time pressure.
