Toncoin jumps 60% as Durov backs Telegram becoming top validator

min

Toncoin ripped over 60% in three days and hit $2.215, its highest since mid-November. The move followed Pavel Durov’s push for Telegram to become TON’s largest validator.

Toncoin (TON) traded in the $2.10–$2.20 zone on Wednesday. Kraken showed a 24-hour high of $2.20. OKX printed $2.215 earlier in the session.

TON remains far below its prior all-time high near $8.25. But the rally reset near-term structure after months of muted price action.

Durov’s May 5 post sharpened the narrative. He wrote on X: “Telegram becoming TON’s largest validator strengthens decentralization. It lets other major players join the validator pool without centralizing the network — with Telegram as the counterbalance. More and more TON gets locked in validation as everyone competes for 20%+ APR.” Durov’s post on X.

One day earlier, Durov said Telegram would replace the TON Foundation as the main driver and become the largest validator. He also said TON fees dropped sixfold “to nearly zero,” with a new website, developer tools, and performance upgrades due in two to three weeks. NewsBTC report on Telegram’s plan.

The market is trading the Telegram-led roadmap:

  • Lower fees to near zero
  • New TON website
  • New developer tools
  • Performance upgrades
  • Validator shift toward Telegram

At press time, TON traded at $2.263.
