A centralized exchange, or CEX, operates a user account, accepts deposits and executes trades. This format can be practical for bank funding and ordinary spot purchases when the operator supports your country and payment method.

Terms and examples checked on 23 October 2026. Choose by operation rather than assuming every large brand suits every customer.

What matters when choosing a CEX

  • The operator controls deposit access, so read withdrawal rules before funding.
  • Spot, margin and futures are different products with different costs.
  • International brands can use separate local legal entities.
  • The trading fee is only one part of a purchase's total cost.

Match the service to your task

Match the service to your task
Task Look for Compare
Buy using your income currency A local bank route Money debited and tokens received
Trade regularly The required pair's order book Spread, depth and execution
Move assets from another venue A supported network Deposit minimum and withdrawal charge
Store outside the exchange Personal-wallet withdrawals Network, address and backup management

Three comparison examples

The payment currency and local account determine the choice. These examples serve different tasks rather than a universal ranking.

Bybit for ordinary crypto-crypto spot trades

Bybit lists 0.1% maker and taker for VIP 0 in its ordinary spot category.

On a 1,000 USDT trade, that is a 1 USDT equivalent fee before funding and withdrawal costs.

Other markets have separate rates. Establish country eligibility before registering.

Bitvavo for euro purchases

Bitvavo has a separate EUR market category. Its initial published rates are 0.15% maker and 0.25% taker.

This is a useful comparison for an eligible European account. USDC and other categories use different rates.

Coinbase Singapore for bank-funded SGD

The Coinbase payment guide describes free SGD transfers through FAST. This is a payment-route feature, not free trading.

The Singapore guide compares local services and requirements. The international Coinbase profile does not replace the local agreement.

CEX and DEX compared

CEX and DEX compared
Feature CEX DEX
Asset access Account and operator rules Personal wallet and contract
Bank payments May be integrated Usually a separate step
Execution Often an order book Pools or another protocol mechanism
Access recovery Support procedure Wallet key management

Research DEX platforms for wallet-based swaps. For a first BTC or ETH purchase, start with a clear funding and withdrawal route.

Check the first transaction

  1. Complete identification and enable account protection.
  2. Select spot if you do not intend to borrow.
  3. Check the price, fee and eventual withdrawal network.
  4. Make a small purchase and test withdrawal above the minimums.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about this selection and its practical use.

Is a CEX always cheaper than a simple-purchase app?

No. Compare the final quote because purchase modes can use different charges and spreads.

Is an exchange balance the same as a personal wallet?

No. CEX withdrawals depend on an operating service and compliance with its terms.

Does this filter show only locally available exchanges?

No. It selects the platform type. Use a country guide for residence-specific conditions.
